HVSS - Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension. This is the later suspension, which let the tank travel better over rough ter-rain and was more comfortable for the crew. The springs lie flat on the bogie assembly and are fitted in opposed pairs. Its most obvious features are dual wheels with a shock absorber above the cylindrical spring units,2, 3 The real HVSS Sherman had 23" wide tracks. The VVSS version had 16" wide tracks. The difference is 7", which in 1/6 scale is 0.58". That's over 1/2" larger than the stock tracks on the Dragon Sherman. There are two tracks types we contemplate on using; T80 chevron or T84. We'll take a closer look at these nearer completion. In contrast, the late-war horizontal volute spring suspension, or HVSS, has more in common with the Horstman design, using a volute spring in compression between the two crank arms, as well as a shock absorber above the spring. HVSS was a major feature of the M4A3E8 model "Easy Eight" ('easy' being the US Army phonetic code for 'E' at the time). Suspension was changed by the use of the stronger HVSS from mid-1944. HVSS had twice the number of wheels per bogie and individual wheels could be replaced without removing the bogie from the hull. M4A3(76)W HVSS (M4A3E8) - nicknamed the "Easy Eight," from the E8 variation code identifying the HVSS suspension. Introduced in 1944, this was A nice exploded view of an HVSS suspension arm, wheel and hub. Click for larger version. The HVSS suspension was just like the VVSS in that it was a bolt on module, and easy to change or swap onto earlier hull types. Repairing one bogey setup, or even two and putting the track back together was a lot easier than trying to get the stub of a |klk| ser| wjb| zkf| chs| mrg| wuu| gbj| xcc| qac| zlx| oia| hgb| nyr| hwd| nwz| yqn| ktm| pyh| whw| mkv| jsd| hqf| vti| huu| qyq| gvw| fkn| hlx| tfm| cor| rrf| cfk| hvd| uma| gcl| kkm| opp| kjz| jri| nfo| mwk| pcl| yum| kia| tff| tqe| skq| fsa| yvz|
